Steps to Join Our Department

The application process to become a Brookline Police Officer is long, rigorous and competitive but very rewarding in the end. 
  • The first step to becoming a Police Officer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is signing up to take the Civil Service Exam
  • Upon taking and passing the Civil Service Exam you will be placed on an eligibility list and called in order of score
  • Successfully pass the Brookline Police Department Background Investigation including an Interview
  • Successfully pass the Brookline Police Department Medical Assessment 
  • Successfully pass the Brookline Police Department Psychological Examination
  • Successfully pass the Commonwealth of Massachusetts PAT
